I posted this nearly a year ago when my friend's 3 year old son entered hospice care because of a very rare form of childhood cancer. With the news that we have received at PCW this week, I felt that the words should be reposted because they speak to me of our call of how we can be the church to people in need. In all times like these, we struggle with what we can DO, when often the question that we need to wrestle with is what we can BE for those in need. While there are things we can DO - helping around the house, yardwork, making meals, and so forth, oftentimes what people simply need are people to BE with them.
Once again sitting like Job's friends...
