So I saw this in the water this morning while walking Scout.
Just a leaf floating in the water.
But as I watched that single leaf for a few minutes it didn’t look like it moved at all even as the choppy waters flowed beneath. I would have thought that the leaf would be carried along and then eventually run ashore on the lake. But not this leaf. It just stayed there in that same spot. As I watched it, I prayed for friends who are going through choppy waters in their lives. I prayed that they would find a strength that they didn’t know they had. I prayed for resilience to continue to keep going in the midst of the challenges they faced. And I gave thanks for the ways that I can remember when I felt like that little leaf being buffeted by the current.
So, were are you today? Know that you are stronger than you think you are. Know that God’s strength is there for you. Know that you are not alone.
This morning’s Psalm spoke to this for me. The Psalmist is reflecting on the times when God’s strength helped them through. Verses 7 and 8 especially touched my heart.
[Y]ou have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me. (Psalm 63:7-8)
May that be your experience today.
Very nice piece! I sent it to my oldest daughter.
