Waking Up
It was to this that I woke up yesterday morning. After several long days of travel - 22 hours to get to Kenya then about 5 hours traveling from Nairobi to Kisii early the next morning, we were tired. We woke up having slept inside a spacious mosquito netting around the bed (we have decided to call it our Princess Tent) but then we also woke to something different that cannot be captured in a picture.
Outside we heard sounds that we do not hear normally. Several cows mooing very loudly (Amy referred to it as an evangelical cow as he was making sure everyone heard his message), people talking to one another as they walked to various places - to work, to the market, etc, bird noises that were not ones that we would hear in Ohio. We heard the sounds of life in Kisii. It was beautiful to hear life in a different place and as we have traveled thus far to see life in a different place. It is different here, yes, but there is a beauty here for which I am deeply grateful.
God is good
