The Sound that Transcends All the Sounds of the World
Thich That Hanh describes the final sound as...
"...the Sound That Transcends All Sounds of the World. This is the sound of impermanence, a reminder not to get caught up in or too attached to particular words or sounds”.
Hanh, Thich Nhat. Silence (p. 11). HarperOne. Kindle Edition.
He speaks of how this is the sound that, no matter where you are, you can hear this sound if you are able to be still.
The last week or so, I’ve been trying to be very intentional on my walks to be “still” as I walk. I haven’t been listening to music or talking on the phone. I haven’t been talking out my sermons or similar. I’ve been trying to be simply listening and seeing what I would encounter and when I have come to something that speaks, I’ve tried to simply stop and take it in.
So, these images are the sounds that transcend the sounds of the world that I have seen/heard the last week.
