The Second Gaze - Silence

I spend a lot of time with visualizations of sound. Editing and working with videos for churches each week, I see where the sound rises and falls, I see where cuts can be made and transitions can be inserted. I see where one sound can be split and moved around to create something new. But lines like these pictured don’t reflect a beautiful voice with piano underneath or a woman preaching a Gospel message or a child talking during a children’s message. These lines reflect silence. They reflect the spaces where you can hear your own breath or maybe even your own heartbeat. They are the moments where, after all the other noises are left behind, we are left with stillness. These silent lines speak of the ruach, the breath, the Spirit of God.
