Negative space is that area in between objects, letters, etc that we can sometimes “fill in.” One of the best examples of this is in the logo for FedEx. Have you ever noticed the arrow that is in between the E and the X? It sends a subtle message about what the company is about - moving things from one place to another. As I reflected on negative space, I didn’t think about the literal of it per se but instead the ways that we fill in the spaces in between that which we see and comprehend. I reflected upon how when we come into those places where the fog obscures that which we have seen before and we are left to fill in the space in between. So the question is with what do we fill in those spaces? Do we fill them with hope? With pragmatism? With imagination? With fear? With joy? With abundance? With scarcity? With...?
