The Second Gaze - Listen
It was almost as if these were tied together. In my meditation podcast yesterday morning was this quote and image...
I am learning to love the sound of my feet walking away from things not meant for me.
One way of hearing this can sound pretty cold as I don’t like the idea of having to walk away from things. It can feel like failure or a lack of caring. But there are realities to this whether something (or someone) is toxic and unhealthy or whether something / someone was ever really for us.
Scripture speaks to something of this in various ways such as a list of people to avoid in 2 Timothy 3. But I prefer words like in Philippians 4:8 which points to where we ought to be headed and what we are to seek, rather than simply what we should avoid.
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
