The Second Gaze - Dreams
We had a conversation at dinner a few nights ago about dreams from the night before. As we talked through the impossibilities of locations, space, events, people, and objects that appeared, we also tried to talk through meanings underneath and within. Nothing was definitively solved but it was a fun conversation nonetheless.
I do believe our dreams speak - our unconscious helping us process events and experiences. But I also believe that God is still speaking in and through our dreams. Maybe not in every dream but definitely in some.
As in this photo, our dreams often have a feel of unreality and disparate elements somehow coming together into a single experience. And even if a dream isn't remembered, it doesn't mean it wasn't there. Hmmm... sounds like our waking experiences as well. God is still speaking in our waking, even if we don't see it, hear it, or even if we don't believe it.
"I will pour out my Spirit on every kind of people: Your sons will prophecy, also your daughters. Your old men will dream, your young men will see visions. I'll even pour out my Spirit on the servants, men and women both.”
Joel 2:28
