The Second Gaze - Boots
Yesterday, one of my boys headed off on an overnight campout and he had his boots ready to go. These boots have been through a lot - many campouts, hikes, mud pits, rain, and they are still going strong. After dropping him off, I went on a hike myself and as I hiked along a river, I saw this collection of foot and paw prints, noting that none of them were wearing boots. No commentary on this - just interesting. What my second gaze spoke to me was the beautiful diversity in creation that we have before and around us. We see it in our fellow humans but of course also in the diversity simply of animals and life around us. After all, just look at all these different kinds of feet!
God saw, God spoke, God created, God pronounced it good. (Summing up many verses in Genesis 1)
