When I wrote last Sunday, there had only been one CAC post about awe - the one I referenced. Well, this whole week has been centered on the experience of awe.
Regarding the topic of the article, it is fascinating to consider the varying degrees of awe people experience. What would you say is the key diferentiator between genuine awe and simpler admiration?
That is a great question. For me, awe connects me to something greater than myself. It helps me to see my place in the bigger picture. Both in humility but also connection.
Genuine admiration is more of a “that’s nice” or “that’s really cool” but doesn’t have an added depth to it.
Dacher Keltner in his book on awe has this great definition of awe…
“Awe is the feeling of being in the presence of something vast that transcends your current understanding of the world”
Awe happens, a gift many experience. Love all you highlight .
