Spending some time with Calvin...
Beginning January 1, 2009, you will have the opportunity to spend some quality time with Calvin throughout 2009. Not this Calvin...

But this one...
2009 is the 500th anniversary of Calvin's Institutes. John Calvin is considered to be one of the forefathers of what we refer to today as the Reformed Tradition. Many speak of Calvin in this regard, but not too many people crack open Calvin's works. I read most of the books for my theology classes in seminary, but honestly have not returned much to them in the last 9 years.
Princeton Seminary (my alma mater) is celebrating the 500th anniversary by putting together a very Web 2.0 reflection upon Institutes. Each day of 2009, there will be a section of the work that will be posted on the PTS Calvin website (for both standard and mobile browsers) and also a daily podcast available of the readings. Further, each week a scholar or pastor will prepare a reflection paper upon the readings with the opportunity for comments and interaction with the writer and others.
I highly suggest checking out this experience as we enter into 2009. I think it would be an excellent introduction to some of the theology of our forefathers in the faith and also an opportunity to hear from others about their experience of this core work of the Christian faith.
