Recent Moments and Week 2 of Faith Through the Lens
Reflecting the Passage of Time in Faith and Through the Shutter
Good morning friends - first off, thank you to the new subscribers who keep showing up in my notifications. It is such a blessing to know that somehow what I am sharing here is connecting with folks. So welcome and thank you once again!
Just a few photos from over the weekend or so. Three are from a truly gorgeous sunrise morning at Winton including one of the benches (but not at 7:45 so doesn’t officially count in the photo series). One of these was also really beautiful to me because of the contrasts of textures in the water. The smooth ripples in the water but then the orange puff ball clouds reflected on the surface.
The others came while I was in Detroit for an overnight for the ordination celebration of a dear friend. I went for a long walk along Lake St Claire and I loved the framing possibilities with the one way signs all along the way. Bonus while I was walking was seeing a couple get engaged!
Faith Through the Lens Week 2 - Time and the Shutter
This week’s reflection in the congregation I serve was rooted in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 and Psalm 78:1-7 as we shared about how we can see the passage of time through still photography. Ultimately, looking back over our histories (personal, faith, corporate, etc) in honest and deep ways can help us live through what we are facing in the present as well. I shared about how we do this in photography in two ways - through photos over time (such as the four seasons photographs below) but also by the length of time the shutter exposes the sensor on a camera. We can not only see the moments in the past but also see the flow of how so many things come together. If you want to take in the message, here’s the link cued up to the sermon.
Faith Through the Lens Week 2 - Shutter and Time
Here are some of my four seasons series and then also I included videos of ALL the bench images thus far this year (through early September). The videos are, of course, getting longer as the year passes so feel free to just skip through if you want of course! Or just watch the whole thing!
And here are the bench videos:
