Psalm Photos - 46 - Still
Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. Selah
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns.
The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
Come, behold the works of the Lord; see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.
"Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth."
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

I have always loved taking pictures of reflections on the water. I love the stillness of an early morning and the quiet that often accompanies such times. As an early riser most mornings, I am usually up to see most sunrises and I give many thanks for this. This picture is from The Farm - the location of PCW's annual men's retreat. It is a beautiful place and a holy place. I speak for myself as well as for many others who have experienced the holiness and sacredness of this place. I have been out to The Farm for 5 retreats, times with my family, and my covenant group. Each time has been a time of being in the stillness of God's creation and in the presence of our Creator. "Be still and know that I am God...God is our refuge and strength, our very present help in trouble."
The Farm is a place where I experience this stillness and the strength and help that comes from our God. I experience this through the generosity of our hosts who grace us with this place each year and the other times I have been out there. I experience this through the community of people who I share these times with - whether it was the men of the church this weekend, my brothers in my covenant group, or my dear family. As the theme of our retreat this weekend was "I am second," I am so grateful for the One who is first in my life for whom I am so grateful.
I am thankful for the stillness that The Farm brings in my spirit, a place where I experience the presence and power of God.
