Psalm Photos - 119:25-32 - Dalet - Dust
My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word.
When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes.
Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works.
My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
Put false ways far from me; and graciously teach me your law.
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your ordinances before me.
I cling to your decrees, O Lord; let me not be put to shame.
I run the way of your commandments, for you enlarge my understanding.

I wrestled with this passage all day today. I kept going back and forth about different areas of the passage until I got wrapped around the first verse, "My soul clings to the dust..." That's a strange line...how can one cling to the dust? Obviously one cannot and what I hear in this is a statement about the only revival and only hope can home from God. We can try to hold onto the dust of our lives, but it will just slip through out fingers. Yet, hold onto that which is strong and unbreakable - the love, grace, word of God...that can't slip through our fingers.
