Psalm 119:153-160 - Resh - Distant
Look on my misery and rescue me, for I do not forget your law.
Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to your promise.
Salvation is far from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes.
Great is your mercy, O Lord; give me life according to your justice.
Many are my persecutors and my adversaries, yet I do not swerve from your decrees.
I look at the faithless with disgust, because they do not keep your commands.
Consider how I love your precepts; preserve my life according to your steadfast love.
The sum of your word is truth; and every one of your righteous ordinances endures forever.

In case you cannot tell, there’s a cross at the middle of this image. But there’s a lot else around that makes it a bit tough to see. There’s the blurriness around the edges of the picture, the street sign partially blocking it, the size of the image, and several other things that can make it hard to see. How true that can be of our lives? I can think of so many times where all the other things around me have taken my eyes off of Christ in my life. This Psalm speaks of “salvation being far from the wicked” - to me it comes down to the other things we place in between us and God that turn us away. It may be that God is so far under the pile of everything else that it seems that God’s not there at all. But when we do focus in, we can see God…as we move closer, God becomes clearer and clearer. God has never left. And God never will.
