Psalm Photos - 119:129-136 - Pe - Unfolding
Psalm 119:129-136
Your decrees are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them.
The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
With open mouth I pant, because I long for your commandments.
Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is your custom toward those who love your name.
Keep my steps steady according to your promise, and never let iniquity have dominion over me.
Redeem me from human oppression, that I may keep your precepts.
Make your face shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes.
My eyes shed streams of tears because your law is not kept. ---
I loved the 2nd verse of this Psalm about the unfolding of God's words bringing light and the understanding that comes. I had initially thought of an image I took of a sunrise in Virginia last summer, but as I went to write this out tonight, I saw what was collected this evening - these two laundry baskets full of wonderful books to share. We celebrated our oldest children's 10th birthday tonight with a ton of their friends from school and they asked for friends to bring books to donate to other children in lieu of gifts. The books will be given to an event this summer in Cincinnati called HopeFest. So, as they opened up the bags and unwrapped what was shared, it was book after book after book. These books will be shared with children who come to the event and I pray that, while not all the books are religious in nature, that there is new understanding and new light brought as their imaginations are tapped through these stories. I so love reading and love the way that I can lose myself in a story - whether its the stories or the words of the Bible or a journey of a Hobbit, speculative futures, biographies, and so on. Words give light - indeed they do.
