Psalm 119:105-112 - Nun - Lamp
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to observe your righteous ordinances.
I am severely afflicted; give me life, O Lord, according to your word.
Accept my offerings of praise, O Lord, and teach me your ordinances.
I hold my life in my hand continually, but I do not forget your law.
The wicked have laid a snare for me, but I do not stray from your precepts.
Your decrees are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.
I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end.

One of the traditions I love about where we live is "Light Up Wyoming." Each December, you can purchase luminary kits and the goal is to create an unbroken line of light throughout the town. Most of the residents participate and its a beautiful sight. To me, that's what I think of when I read this passage. Its not just a singular light that God lays before us, but instead a path that shows us the way. It does not illuminate everything nor does it always feel complete, but it points the way and it reveals that which we need to see - even if we don't see everything we hope to see. I give thanks for the guidance that God's Word brings to our lives - pointing the way.
