Psalm Photos - 119:1-8 - Aleph - Those
Psalm 119:1-8 - Alef
Happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord.
Happy are those who keep his decrees, who seek him with their whole heart,
who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways.
You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently.
O that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!
Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.
I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous ordinances.
I will observe your statutes; do not utterly forsake me.
——
And so begins the long and wonderful journey through Psalm 119 beginning with the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet - Aleph. “Happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord.”
I was immediately reminded in this Psalm that we do not journey alone in our faith walk. Happy are those, not just the one. I am reminded with this Psalm of the many people who have been vital to my walk of faith. In my written journal of the Psalms, I listed about 20 people, but I will refrain from doing that here because of a) privacy but also because I know I will miss someone in the list. But I am so thankful for the many who have been core for guiding me, encouraging me, pushing me, praying for me, teaching me, supporting me, convicting me, celebrating with me, grieving with me, worshipping with me, and walking with me.
I took this picture last night at the College of Mt St Joseph’s here in Cincinnati while waiting to pick my daughter up from her ballet recital practice. The original picture had a beautiful blue sky in the background, but I shifted it to B&W because I wanted the focus to be solely upon the figures and upon the cross. The figures who are walking together (an adult and a child) with the cross ahead of them. Thank you to each who has helped me along the way and I pray that I have been able to help you as well as we continue to understand what it means to follow Christ in our lives.
