Psalm Photos - 112 - Path
Psalm 112
Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments.
Their descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.
They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright; they are gracious, merciful, and righteous.
It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice.
For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered forever.
They are not afraid of evil tidings; their hearts are firm, secure in the Lord.
Their hearts are steady, they will not be afraid; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
They have distributed freely, they have given to the poor; their righteousness endures forever; their horn is exalted in honor.
The wicked see it and are angry; they gnash their teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked comes to nothing.

This was a beautiful end encouraging Psalm to wake up to this morning. Such a beautiful picture of the shape and direction of the life of faith. The picture today came from an activity in a continuing education event I participated in today. We had to work to get everyone across this “maze” without knowing the exact path (and also without talking after an initial period of figuring out options). There was a lot of laughter and frustration, successes and failures, guidance and some going alone. Yet we made it across as we discovered the way through the maze. I thought of this Psalm as we completed the activity - of the challenges and blessings of living the life of faith. There are things that this Psalm lays out that speak of how to life and the path to take, but its not always easy and we don’t do it perfectly every time.
I was also reminded as we worked through this of how we are not alone in this journey and to make it through this life of faith, we need others - we need the grace and power of the Spirit, we need brothers and sisters to guide us, and we will make it across. I have been a Christian for 24 years now and I still know that I have a long way to go, but I am thankful for the many others who have helped to lay foundations of faith in my life and who walk with me still today. The path of faith is not easy, but it is the best path of life and I give thanks for being able to walk it with God and with others.
