Psalm Photos - 108 - Awake with the Dawn
Psalm 108
My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make melody. Awake, my soul!
Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn.
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples, and I will sing praises to you among the nations.
For your steadfast love is higher than the heavens, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.
Give victory with your right hand, and answer me, so that those whom you love may be rescued.
God has promised in his sanctuary: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem, and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter.
Moab is my washbasin; on Edom I hurl my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies.
O grant us help against the foe, for human help is worthless.
With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.

2nd to last full day of Credo. We started this morning with this experience…gathering on the deck overlooking the water with the sun rising for worship. We awoke with the dawn and with singing. Singing Hallelujahs and hearing the story of Jacob returning transformed from his encounter with God at Peniel. He was no longer the same man he was before that encounter. He walked with a limp (physically transformed) and he had a new name, Israel (spiritually and personally transformed). That is the hope of following God that we will be transformed in every way - not just a few small areas and not according to the self-help plans of society, but instead transformed wholly and completely by the power and Spirit of God. Truly God, let your glory be over all the earth!
I deliberately did some significant editing to this picture for two reasons - first, it was not the best picture I have ever taken…I was running late this morning and was the last to arrive, so the picture was somewhat on-the-run. But second, I wanted to give just the sense of us together for worship in that space and not so much on the specifics of the people there. To me, the specifics here do not matter as much as the experience of us gathering at the dawn with thanksgiving and with joy.
