Today, a sunrise photo very unlike any other I’ve shared.
This morning, I was doing my run on the treadmill at Planet Fitness when I saw something bright off to the right. Just to my right, the morning sun was reflecting off the top edge of one of the step machines, the sidebar of the treadmill, my right arm, and when I looked down, it was shining on whichever thigh was ahead as I was running. It was a momentary thing - lasted only a few minutes and then it was over. But right there, that moment.
Psalm 66 begins with one of the most famous lines in all of the Psalms
Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
give to him glorious praise.
Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!
It continues be recounting some of the “big moments” of Israel’s history - the crossing of the sea and the provision of the Promised Land. It calls upon people to give great sacrifices and sing with a loud and joyful noise/voice. This Psalm feels like it calls for a photo that is so incredibly breath-giving. But for me, that breath-giving, that life-giving, that beautiful moment was this brief moment when the morning sun reached me ⅔ of the way back inside Planet Fitness as I was running on a treadmill. The reflection off the stair machine caught my eye and then I realized the warmth on my arm and on my legs. And I gave thanks for that moment and I did raise a joyful noise there in that space and I lifted a word of praise. These were a simple breathy...thank you.
Did you have a similar moment today or in recent days? I’d love to hear about it.
Grace, Peace, Love, and Joy,
Ed
PS - Spring is springing. Scout is back to enjoying getting her solar cells recharged...
Well, a different wonderful moment but today at the cat adoptions. A cat with medical issues had been passed over for several weeks absolutely captivated a lady who wasn’t even worried about the expense of the health issues, the adopter just fell in love.
4am dawn song and the robins- only robins- in the snow early this week where all there had been were pigeons all winter.
