Power
I walked home late this morning to get some lunch only to find that the power was out for our chunk of town. I walked into the house to find that the loaf of bread that I set up to be finished when I was coming home had only just begun to bake when the power went out. I also was going to download some pictures to send to our church's communications director and of course realized that our desktop computer wouldn't be coming on. There was a measure of frustration around this but none of it is the end of the world by any means. Well, after sneaking some food quickly out of the fridge (to hopefully not let out too much cold air), I headed back to the church for the afternoon. Shortly after getting back, I got a call out of the blue from a dear friend of mine - a fellow pastor with whom I have journeyed in faith for the last 14-15 years. He was calling in response to a message I sent out about a prayer request yesterday morning. We talked for about 20 minutes and it was such a blessing to have had that time of connecting with him. There was power in that conversation - power of hope, power of the Spirit, power of life, power of the bond that we share as fellow Christians. I am thankful that while our (earthly) power is out right now, the spiritual power that God brings stays strong.
