Earlier this year, two friends of mine headed out a few months ago on a trek to do the entire Appalachian Trail. They had been training, prepping, and planning for a long time leading up to it and they fully expected to complete the trail. It was not to be. One of them started having issues that caused them to have to slow down and then eventually stop the trek. The other was able to continue on and finished the trail for both of them.
I’m feeling a bit like the first friend.
I don’t know if it is writers block or a bit of contemplative plantar fasciitis but I need to step off the trail for a little bit. I need a bit of internal writing and reflection time for my spirit just as a long-distance hiker sometimes needs to rest the body in order to continue on the trail. So the next post for the Sermon on the Mount probably won’t be until next week sometime at least.
These photos were two moments that helped me realize what my spirit was speaking. Time to listen.
See you back on the trail soon.
Blessings on your time away. I am grateful that you are listening to your spirit.
Important to take the time you need! We’ll be here when you get back.
