It has been a week. That’s probably the best way to put it. A lot of things going on - some challenging, some beautiful, some both. There have been possibilities and roadblocks. There has been the beginning of Lent and the realization that a lot of Lent is still to come. There have been things that have been exhausting and others that have been life-giving. As my dear friend Lisa would often share when we were serving together, “it’s all in there.” One of the photos from this week spoke of exactly that statement - it is the featured one above. There is the new life and new growth growing out of the remains of a tree that had fallen. It is all in there.

These photos spoke to me from this week for several different reasons.
The first surprised me with sun reflections that looked like stars on the water.
The second was water that was this gorgeous and unique shade unlike I had seen before at Rowe Woods.
The next two (the golden ones) were from the same morning. The first touched my heart because of the area of smooth water to the left of the log as it was blocking the current. My prayer at that moment was for the peace of Christ to stir in me (and in others on my heart) even as the currents of life keep going. The second (the fisherman) was simply a beautiful moment as he was right where the sun’s reflection spread on the lake.
Finally, the grey one is one of those photos that a photograph cannot fully reflect the moment. It was a really cloudy day on a morning when I felt really cloudy myself. As Scout and I rounded one part of the path, I saw that one little bit of sunlight peeking out and a single ray of sun filtered out and down. It was beautiful and needed.
What has been the experience of your week?

Weeks fly by like hummingbirds for me, but somehow I can remember a few meaningful moments. At a gathering of church people at IHOPS, a new friend and I spontaneously broke into a song by Pure Prairie League. I was immediately taken emotionally to the 2nd floor of the Fine Arts building where I went to college where you could find someone to sing with anytime you wanted. The other moment was showing the movie "The Hobbit" to three uninitiated women who had more questions in the first 10 minutes than I could answer. I think they were drawn into it. I'll find out next week when I show the rest of it to them.
