(Quick note - to see the full post and all the photos, you’ll have to click through to the site - Substack is telling me that this post is too long for emails).
Well, since everyone else on substack seems to be putting out their year-in-review posts, I’ll join the fray. But mine will not necessarily be a list of my most-viewed posts but instead a short reflection on one photo that feels like it fully reflects my year and what I have been growing into over the last 10+ years but then simply a series of galleries of the photos that really spoke to me of this year. I had grand plans of choosing only 12 but that didn’t work out...40 photos later there are 54 of them. :-)
This is the photo that marks my year. I shared it back in May but it connects back to Lisa’s death earlier (Navigating Grief, That was 14 Eds Ago) in the year and also speaks forward to other challenges that the year would bring. My first (and likely only) tattoo marks this year of 2023 for me. It is a year that has had many blessings on my continuing journey of faith, growth, and healing but it is also a year that has been marked by lots of losses and significant realizations (This Fence, Another Loss and Another Labyrinth, Peace - Place, A Whole Lot of Hope). I am grateful for the labyrinth that is always with me now because it reminds me of the ongoing path of discipleship that I live day by day but also reminds me of those who have been with me along the path who live with me now only in memory. While there have been many many other photographs this year, none speak more of this year to me than this one.
Here are the other photos of this year for me. Some have been featured in some of my posts and others were ones that just spoke to me as I was going through my library. Some have stories with them, some do not. I’d love to hear from you of which one(s) speaks to you or which stand out to you for whatever reason. Thanks for being part of this journey with me.
These are such beautiful photographs! A joy to scroll through them slowly and with appreciation! Thanks Edward!
