Only Through the Lens
At first, I was mesmerized by the patterns in the lake. Some areas where the water was freezing over, others where the water seemed to be still, others where it was moving ever so gently. All in my immediate field of view. How could there be all these different ways of movement at the same time? So I pulled out my phone and tried to capture these movements with the video below. But as I started to record, I saw something through the lens of the camera that I didn’t see outside it - the rays of the sun shining in from the side shining down onto the waters. It might have been some oils on the camera lens that created it but it didn’t matter. Through the lens yesterday morning, I saw an additional beauty I would not have otherwise. What it spoke to me was the light and presence of the One who underlies all beauty, wonder, and joy.
