This morning, when I was meeting with my counselor, we got talking about hope. Our conversation has stayed with me since this morning and is still with me as I should be going to bed but just felt the need to share these moments from today. What is stirring for me tonight is a poem/prayer from an artist named Jen Wilhoite (@cobbleworks on Instagram) that beautifully speaks hope.
All Is Held
when
I cannot say all is well
or all is known
help me sayall is held
so I never believe
all is lost
Yesterday,
shared this poem (which is integrated into a stunning piece of art that can eventually be ordered - it is currently out of stock - at Jen’s site on Etsy ) and it has been staying with me pretty tightly since. In my conversation with my counselor this morning, I shared about how I feel that I have come to recognize that part of what I am to do is to share hope and to share beauty. In times that often feel far from hope and far from beauty, I am grateful to be able to share moments that we can hold alongside those other moments. It isn’t about ignoring those things or trying to just push them away but instead how we hold all of it. For me, it is this holding that helps me to believe that all is not lost and all is never lost.
So in order of when I received these moments today...
Sunrise (but looking West instead of East)
A Scout moment
A morning that feels like one of the last of a beautiful Autumn as it feels more leaves have fallen than are still on the trees
And then finally tonight’s sunset on the Winton Lake bridge that was simply...wow
I thought I was finished writing but then I noticed one more thing in the photo of Jen’s artwork that Sarah posed on her Instagram.
The colors...pink, purple, yellow, orange, black, blue/grey, orange, purple... it is almost exactly the progression of colors in the four photos above.
when
I cannot say all is well
or all is known
help me say
all is held
so I never believe
all is lost.
All is held in love. All is held in hope. All is held in beauty. All is held indeed.
You absolutely share hope and beauty - and we are all the better for it. Thank you for the blessing that you are to us!
