Matthew 11 - Unclear
I don’t know why but I love the parts of the Gospels where John the baptizer sends people to Jesus to ask “are you the one we were looking for or should we look for another?” That happens at the beginning of Matthew 11 to which Jesus responds with a message recounting how the blind are seeing, the lame are walking, and the poor have the good news brought to them. But I love the question because it reminds me that some doubt and questioning is ok. I used to believe that any kind of doubt or questioning things about my faith was a reflection of a weak faith or a lack of faith. But the more that I mature in faith, the more that doubts and questions come in. But what those doubts and questions do though is lead me to dig deeper rather than turning away. I shared with a person recently that I feel more secure and stronger in my faith today than I ever have but I also have more doubts and questions than ever before. Explain that one. One of the paradoxes of faith I guess. So, faith continues to be trying to understand and feel and experience the reality of Jesus even when sometimes that understanding, feelings, and experiencing is far from clear.
