Mark 6:53-56 - Ashore
Healing the Sick in Gennesaret When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored the boat. When they got out of the boat, people at once recognized him, and rushed about that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. And wherever he went, into villages or cities or farms, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed.

Jesus didn't get very far until the crowds found him and were once again reaching for him for healing and restoration. Sounds like he'd barely stepped out of the boat before people saw him and started running toward him. There is a frantic sense to what this passage describes. Really feels like a reality that some feel in their lives - a desperate reaching out for someone or something beyond themselves. In a lot of ways, I feel like we have numbed ourselves to the need that we have. Whether its through the many distractions we can find for ourselves or the busy-ness with which we live, its very easy to inoculate ourselves against our needs, but simply just cover them up until they come out in ways that we do not expect. The people of this passage recognize their need and they recognize the one who can meet them.
