Mark 4
Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love the cool weather. I love the colors of the trees. I love that it is football season. I love the smells and the sounds of this season. Best time of the year. But I remember a few years ago someone mentioning to me that the leaves in the trees are changing color because they are being readied to fall and that they will decompose and the tree will grow new ones when spring comes. The cycle of death, rebirth, life, death, rebirth, life, and so on.
In Mark 4, Jesus talks about the kingdom of God being like seeds. Like a seed that is planted and it grows into wheat or like the tiny mustard seed that when it is planted grows to be far larger. But those growing plants go through that cycle. Times when the plant goes dormant, leaves are shed, new seeds fall, and new growth begins.
