Luke 15 - Imperfect Wonderful
This morning I read one of my favorite chapters in all of the Bible - Luke 15. The stories of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. Each ends with what was lost being found and the version I read had the father at the end saying that he "just couldn't help getting happy and celebrating" that his wayward son had returned. There's a lot about that story that doesn't totally "fit" but it is a wonderful story of the amazing love of God who welcomes us home no matter what.
A little later I read a beautiful line in Richard Rohr's new book...he noted a sign in his study that said "life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful." Wow. So true.
There's so much imperfection around us. So much that isn't what we want it to be. So much that isn't as God would want it to be. Yet there is wonderful there. There is beauty.
This picture speaks that to me. I took it from a school parking lot with my iPhone. As I saw that sight I quietly bemoaned that I didn't have my big camera and couldn't get "the shot." But it is pretty darn beautiful even so.
Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.
