How could I share anything about love today without sharing that today is the 7th anniversary of when Scout found her forever home!
Scout has been such an amazing companion for everyone in our family. She’s been the first listener for pretty much every sermon I’ve preached over the last seven years. She’s snoozed on each one of our feet many times over. She’s suckered us into countless treats. She was amazing throughout Covid-time, seeming to know each day who needed her the most. She’s put up with our goofiness as a family and added plenty of her own. She’s managed to help us adopt a new vocabulary with terms like crunch water, doog, toebeans, thuddles, and flappums to name a few. She has been on pastoral care visits and is beloved by our next door neighbor’s toddler (“small neighbor human.”). She has traveled to 20 states along with Canada. She has her own instagram (@dailydoggodevotions) and was the best selling calendar that I had this year. But most of all she’s an example of love and loyalty. I don’t know if this is really her quote but I saw this quote a few weeks back attributed to Oprah Winfrey:
Over the years I have felt the truest, purest love—the love of God, really, I imagine that's what God's love feels like—is the love that comes from your dog.
And this from W. Bruce Cameron:
You can usually tell that a man is good if he has a dog who loves him.
So for my second day of love, I am celebrating Scout on the 7th anniversary of her gotcha day. My daughter made this awesome poster to celebrate…The Doggo Tour!
Always love seeing Scout’s pictures. Today I got to know about her and even more pictures. What a lucky day she came into your home…lucky for your whole family and lucky for her. Have a wonderful week.
