Lent Photos 2013 - Day 23 - No
Strange topic for today…No. Its a word that I probably have said more in the last 8.5 years than I have in the preceding decades - there's a lot of "no's" that go on in the first few years of children's lives. No, don't touch the hot stove. No, don't jump off that. No, don't talk back to adults. No. Thankfully there are also a lot of blessings that are intermixed with those lessons.
But I went a different direction today. We got a beautiful light snow yesterday - a few inches and it was just beautiful. Beautiful for us, beautiful for my kids who were thrilled to go sledding. Beautiful to see the trees covered in the blanket of snow. But for the flowers that have already started popping out of the ground and even a few buds, I wonder what they might think if they had conscious thought…Would they be like Bugs Bunny who pops up out of his hole and says, "I thought I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque." I wonder if these plants say, "No!" as they are growing into their beauty and then are wrapped and covered in this blanket of snow.
