Just Watching 8 - Path
So, I was talking a lovely walk around town the other day when I saw this walk up to someone's house where this lovely flowering bush was lining the concrete steps. The flowers are called phlox. Since moving here, I have loved the ways that people have used this flower around their houses. But I was especially struck with the contrast between the stoic, level, and staid concrete with the bright, colorful, growing phlox that lined it. A few Sundays ago, our associate pastor was preaching and he reminded us of how we can walk around with blinders on. We all looked a bit silly, but he asked us to put our hands up around our eyes to see how little we were really seeing when we didn't allow us to see the wideness of what God has put around us. Something similar here for me - we can just get so focused in on the steps and the "drudgery" of life that we miss the fullness of what God intends for us.
