Just Watching 7 - Staining
Spent a good chunk of the day today finally getting around to staining and sealing our kids' playset in the backyard. It has needed it for a long while but just never got around to it. This pic is of one of the "roof" sections of it to show the contrast between what I did today with what it was before today. Of course, when we first put it together, it was a very beautiful redwood stained color at that time. But rain, snow, ice, sun, wind, etc have managed to wear it down. As I was going over the many surfaces today, I was reflecting on how easy it is to neglect the things of our faith lives that we need to keep doing to stay strong. I was reminded of the passage from Hebrews 10:24-25 that says, "And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching." I love the phrase in there "provoking one another to love and good deeds" and the call to not neglect meeting together. Those things are so important, but so easy to let fall away. And the next thing you know, what was once rich and strong is now faded and dry.
