It comes as no surprise to me (and possibly to you), that you drew parallels between Tolkien's work and our present-day situation. It is not coincidence (I do not believe in those) that Tolkien was a Christian, as well as a scholar and writer. We can take so many lessons and much hope from LotR. It is my prayer that we will see our "ring" be destroyed in the fires of Mordor in the not too distant future.
Absolutely - and there's also the fact that people totally miss what Tolkien was talking about - Peter Thiel and his Palantir company... or maybe he's just totally cognizant of the fact that its evil...
So well explained. My family in AZ are big LOTR fans. They binge watch all the movies with some friends every NYE and New Year’s Day, actually a giant sleepover for grownups.
I think things are getting worse about every moment. Seems that way. And my English friend and I light up What’s App every evening to see how the world is seeing us. Not favorably.
You two and Scout stay safe and warm these next few days. Scout may need to just run around the backyard for a few days.
“The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that. And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire’s authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this. Try.”
Yes, we don’t know which one, but one will. And each of the ones speaks truth in the darkness. Lies hate truth. The darkness has not and will not overcome the light and the truth.
Lighting that one candle and standing alone on the corner of your street was an expansive act of Love. That one candle warmed my heart even though it was so far away. Actions speak loudly.
Your words and pictures always speak to me. I do plan on accepting the offer for the paid subscription, but I'd prefer to wait until February 3 when my next SSD arrives. My husband was just discharged from the hospital; we aren't looking forward to the bill for what Medicare didn't cover. Thank you!
You speak to my condition!
Thank you! This spoke to my soul…and made me want to see the Lord of the Rings again. I shared this with family and friends. ❤️❤️🩹

Thank you so, so much, Ed. 💛

Thank you for this powerful and helpful post. Thank you, also, for posting The Rune of St Patrick. Those verses spoke strongly to me.
