Imago Scriptura 86 - Psalm 89 - Walking in Light
Part of our worship service this morning was a blessing for our young people and teachers in the congregation as many of them go back to school tomorrow. Our "gift" to them was a small picture for them to put in their backpacks, in folders, in wallets, etc to remind them of the blessing we shared and the journey they are on. I love this picture with the way that the path winds ahead (into a place that isn't quite clear) and that its walking toward the light - the light of Christ.
One of the Psalm readings from yesterday (Psalm 89) was the inspiration for this action with the young people of the church this morning. As I read through the Psalm, I cam eto verses 14-17 which read:
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness. For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our strength.
I pray for our young people and our teachers today and in the coming days that they can walk in the light of God's presence and can rejoice in the name of the Lord.
