Imago Scriptura 77 - Psalms 23-25 - Promise
I have been blissfully ignorant of a lot of things that have happened in the world the last 7-10 days or so. I’ve stayed offline a good bit and especially the last 5-6 days, I have had extremely limited internet access. Upon coming to a place with solid signal and good wifi, I read about a lot of things that have happened the last few weeks that I was unaware of - the attack in Nice, the shootings of the police officers in Baton Rouge, the attempted coup in Turkey, and a few other things. It is into those that I am grateful for the time that I have had in Yellowstone and Grand Teton and in Custer that have refreshed my soul and filled my spirit. I have been so blessed with taking in the beauty of God’s awesome creation and seeing the fingerprints of God in so many things around me.
Upon reading the Scriptures today, I resonated with the words of these three Psalms - the familiar words of Psalm 23, the words of Psalm 24 extolling the strength and power of God, and the words of Psalm 25 which begin with a statement of trust and then recounts the ways that God works.
Yesterday morning, I was at Artist Point in Yellowstone and saw one of the most beautiful sights that I have ever seen - the rainbow that comes from the sun hitting the mist from the waterfalls. It was incredibly moving to be there and be reminded of the regularity of God’s power (the rainbow happens every sunny morning), the beauty of God’s creation, and a reminder of the promise of God from Genesis and then in these words from the Psalms.
So, I am grateful to be able to enter back into the “everyday” with this peace and hope in my heart, mind, and spirit.
