Imago Scriptura 115 - 1 Peter 2:9 - Wonderful Light
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
I woke up this Thanksgiving morning and read this passage and my mind immediately went to a picture I took near here a few years ago when we visited for Thanksgiving. It was a sunrise picture of the light coming through the trees and some of the colors still vibrant and strong. But it was a clear morning and the sun was just brilliant. So, I went out about 6:30 this morning hoping for the same because that just fits this passage in a perfect way.
Unfortunately, it was an overcast morning and the sun was not visible. As I walked, I was just going over this passage in my heart and mind and what took shape began to change from what I was looking for initially. The sun came up at about 7:05am an while I couldn't see the sun itself, I could obviously see the light that began to fill the morning. As I took in the different morning from what I expected, I began to pray about how this is so like what it is to follow Jesus.
I love the times when I can point specifically to "here's where God is at work" and I am grateful for these times. However, so much of the time, its not a specific thing I can point to as much as it is a general knowledge and expeirence of God's work and presence around me.
Either way, it is a wonderful light.
