Imago Scriptura 113 - Hebrews 12 - Fixed
Yesterday was a crazy day for me and I didn't get a chance to write what was on my heart throughout the day. I read Hebrews 12 yesterday morning and the opening words just spoke deeply to me.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.
With some of what was going on yesterday, these were words that I needed to hear. It would have been very easy to lose sight of Jesus in the midst, yet these words just kept coming back to me over and over. But it took me intentionally wanting to keep remembering the words - it was a decision to keep remembering over and over.
A few weeks ago, I was walking through our church library when I was stopped in my tracks by what I saw on the floor. It was a prism rainbow from a new glass sculpted glass that was hanging in the window. It was just beautiful. So, out came the camera and I laid on the floor to get this picture. But I don't know if I would have stopped as I did a few years ago. I have worked so hard the last few years to keep looking for beauty, for signs of God's hand at work, for the ways that Scripture is seen in life all around. And there it was on the floor of a church library.
I try to keep my eyes fixed on those things but it takes work. Just like it takes work to keep ny eyes fixed on Jesus day after day. Some days it is easy, others are much harder but that's the goal.
