Imago Gospels - 17 - Big Picture
The big picture. That’s what was going through my head as I read this chapter. There are harsh words that Jesus offers up here about the religious leaders and about the practices we all sometimes have in faith. But I think that the reality of it is that Jesus was seeing the big picture and not just zeroed in on a few small pieces of the picture. Jesus understood how it all fits together and he was seeking to point that out to his hearers at the time (and to us today). Its not that unlike what we see when we are flying somewhere. When we are flying, we are able to see the patterns and the ways that everything fits together. This picture (of an area somewhere to the north of Cape Town) would look very different from ground level - you wouldn’t see the patterns and the lines that are present.
