Hope - Tuesday

It has been a long day but I’ll share more about this, but this painting and even more so, the artist, is what spoke hope to me today.

Wednesday update - Bev Erschell was a wonderful person and a wonderful artist.  What I love about this painting that she created of Jesus was how everything is seen through Jesus in the painting.  When I asked her about it, she said she wasn’t intending to paint the resurrected Jesus, but “just Jesus.”  But the fact that you can see the background through him speaks something of the ethereal and “otherness” of Jesus.  At the same time there is such a softness, warmth, and welcome in Jesus face and his right hand.  His left hand seems to either be pointing towards something or making a sign of peace and blessing.  I am so grateful for Bev’s life and so grateful for the ways she shared her gift of creating beauty in this painting and in so many others.
