Hope 20 - Big
There are those places in our world and our lives that remind us of how big God is. This picture is one of those places. I had no idea there was a place like Blyde River Canyon in South Africa before we visited it in 2015. It was truly an breathtaking sight. Standing there on the edge was a reminder of how small we are in the grand scheme of things. A passage like Ephesians 1:15-23 does a similar thing - In a prayer he lifts about the Ephesian church, Paul talks about God enlightening their hearts, to know the hope of Jesus, to experience the riches of a glorious inheritance, to understand the immeasurable greatness of God, to grasp the power and the ultimate rule that God has over all things. And to think that God is even greater than a place like this canyon. And yet, God cares and loves and knows each of us. There’s some powerful hope in that truth.
I’ve been listening to U2’s new album a lot lately and one of the songs is called “Love is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way.” I have been taking that song in as a reminder that love, especially the love of God, is so much bigger than anything. So much bigger. So much bigger.
