Hope 07 - Time
Today come several references to hope in Psalm 71. Originally I was going to focus on hope spoken of later in the passage but tonight I needed to hear the words from verses 4-6...
Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.
For you, O Lord, are my hope,
my trust, O Lord, from my youth.
Upon you I have leaned from my birth;
it was you who took me from my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of you
I needed those words today. I needed to be reminded of the steadfast love and hope of the Lord that has been with me through so much in the past and will always be there.
The picture today is my Christmas stocking that my grandmother made when I was born. It has been with me for every Christmas and is hanging from the hearth once again this year. I look at it and am reminded that my grandmother made lovingly with her own hands. And while she is gone, this stocking is a tangible reminder of her love for me.
I am grateful for her love. I am grateful for the love of others in my life. I am most of all grateful for the love of God that continues to be with me and with us. That gives me hope this night. Thanks be to God.
