Holy Week - Friday
This image has been sitting with me for nearly the last two weeks and it connected this morning as I re-read Rev. Long-Higgins poem on this Good Friday. The section that spoke to me was:
Let no resistance
To Your love within or beyond
Be greater than the grace
And strength of Christ
Whose Jerusalem journey
Already reveals Your power
In what the world calls weakness.Rev. David Long-Higgins
The grace and strength of Christ feels to me like these lights on a dark and foggy morning - Lights that illumine just enough of God to allow us to walk in security, safety, and hope. But tonight, I am drawn to the bench and the words that I used at the end of my benediction in the Good Friday service.
God of endings, God of darkness,
God of the tomb, God of dark days and great loss,
be with us now as we wait with Jesus.Carol Penner
So, tonight, I don’t want to walk down the path. I simply want to rest and wait.
