Gratitude 24 - Fleetingly Ordinary
I went for an early walk this morning and was enjoying the crisp air and the sun reflecting on the frost covered surfaces. But this one surface made me stop. At first glance it's just an ordinary guardrail that's gotten fairly rusty over time. But with the frost and the bright sunshine it is something far more beautiful and far from ordinary. The glistening frost on the rail points toward the sun - toward the source of life and warmth. As I came back by about 30 min later the frost had all melted and it was an ordinary guardrail once again.
The pointers to God in life can sometimes be fleeting. Unless we are looking for them we will often miss them. I am grateful for an ordinary sign pointing me to The Light today.
