The last week or so, there’s been some “stuff” swirling around for me personally, as well as spiritual heaviness I have felt for colleagues and friends for what they are dealing with...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine being quoted in an article alongside Jemar Tisby, one of my favorite teachers and writing heroes. Thank you!
Thought provoking indeed. Something I should have understood myself but I guess I didn't think about it in this way until I read this. Thanks for sharing. Blessings to you.
"'What if God knows our capacity to be a part of great transformation when we stand with courage and with hope? How is that courage and hope an invitation into tikkun olam, the restoration and healing of the world that God wants to do through us?'"
Oh Ed, how timely is this? If you've had a chance to see mine today you will see G-d is putting us all together for a reason (And, BTW, if I hadn't already invested in calendars for the year, I would so get one)
Blessings to you and your family and Scout as we continue to walk the path towards a new year
I'm sorry if the above comment sounds too judgy. I'm very upset by our current political situation, which I fear is fear-driven, not love-driven. Godspeed you.
The need for Courage and Hope asks us to have a creative approach to our lives. Novelty is no small word. It's what draws those little learning machines called children. They are full of courage and hope, but they don't know it. It takes courage and hope to take those first steps at a year old. It takes courage and hope the first day of school. It takes courage and hope to skip a day of high school ("Gee, I hope nobody catches me.") Those firsts are novelties and I hope I always greet new experiences as a creative person even though creativity seems to scare the crap out of people. Dear God, surround me with creative people who throw fear to the wind. Amen.

You really knocked me back with your comment, Lindsay. Shared with several colleagues. I bet it will show up in more than one Christmas Eve service!
Gonna be in my sermon this Sunday
Thank you for sharing that with me! I’m not a theologian but it’s something I’ve been pondering for a while.
Well theology just means “God talk” so I think you are! And a good one!

And to you!

Well written and well photographed. Perfect love casts out all fear, and perfect fear casts out all love.

Not judgy at all - just truth. You're absolutely correct.

I am grateful to have your creative spirit in my life!
Thanks, Ed. Having you acknowledge my creative spirit is more important to me than you may realize.
