There’s a wonderful statement right at the beginning of the OnBeing episode for this week. From Krista Tippett:
But joy in human life is a resilience-making, life-giving birthright of being human.1
Do you also hear hope in that statement? I do
Here are my delights from Tuesday:
Out of focus but I loved getting out of the car for our walk and seeing Venus shining brightly in the sky
A few minutes later (Venus is behind the tree on the right) - I take delight in the hopefulness of what might be filling the sky in the minutes to follow
And the colors appeared as I had hoped. But also a wonderfully fortuitous timing of a heron flying into frame
A paper rose that someone left on a path
Another fortuitious timed heron
Two moments with the same flowering bush as yesterday. The not-yet-opened blooms and this bee doing its necessary and beautiful work
Something that appears sometimes in camera but not in real life - the flare of light shining down on one of my favorite benches
The joys of a mid-July perfect sweet and crisp watermelon
There will be more to say about this baptismal font in the coming weeks but I felt incredible delight when I saw this today while going through one of the congregations that is making up the new ResoundingJoy Church
Several in our family went to see the new Superman movie tonight and we all fell in love with Superman's dog, Krypto. But when we came home, we got our superdog into costume as well.
Grace, Peace, Love, Hope, Joy, and Delight, Ed

I'm a day behind with Joys/Delights. Oh my. How do you collect so many delights every day? I also shared a watermelon with Willow yesterday. I usually try to make the things we do together novel which for her equals fun. I used a small melon baller to scoop out round pieces of fruit instead of cutting it up. She was delighted and I was delighted seeing her be delighted. I need to come up with another delight today to keep up with you! Maybe I'll go see the new Superman movie...
