I haven’t been writing on here a lot the last few weeks because I have been busily working on finishing up our Advent devotional (first full draft was finished this afternoon) and it feels like my writing energies have been in there. But this section of Scripture from Psalm 84 has continued to speak to me since I read it a few mornings ago.
How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.
I do love church sanctuaries but as anyone who has read my posts in the past knows, my deepest experiences of the presence of God is where I encounter beauty, especially in nature and in wonder. This weekend was bookended and filled with those. Beauty in a stunning Autumn hike with Scout on Friday and then again on Saturday morning and wonder and awe at the creativity of light artists at Cincinnati’s October event called Blink. So, without any other comments..
