BIAY - Psalm 31 & Matthew 26 - Eyes
Bible in a Year - Psalm 31:9 & Matthew 26 - Eyes
The other thing that I feel stirred me to slow down was Psalm 31:9.
my eye wastes away from grief,
What a stunning sentence. Is it that the eye cannot cry any longer? Is it that it has never been able to cry? It is something else?
I am not feeling like that verse personally but I have felt that way in the past and I am walking alongside people who may be feeling that way themselves. And I get the sense that Jesus was feeling it in Matthew 26 as he prayed in the garden before his betrayal and arrest.
[Jesus] began to be grieved and agitated. Then he said to them, “I am deeply grieved, even to death; remain here, and stay awake with me.”
